Agar is a city in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is more popularly known as Agar Malwa. Before India gained independence, the place was used as a cantonment due to its favourable weather accompanied by a good supply of water. If one were to travel from Indore in Madhya Pradesh to Kota in Rajasthan, he or she would have to surely pass through this town along State Highway (SH) - 27. It was also a part of the Ujjain kingdom in the 10th century. The Mughals also preferred this place during summers due to its pleasant night temperatures.
