Arni is a small municipal town in the Tiruvanamalai district of Tamil Nadu. In fact it is not very far off from Andhra Pradesh. The place derives its name from the Tamil word ‘Araneeyam’ which means surrounded by forests. The town is located just 38 km away from the medical hub of South India, Vellore. The town has a good network of roads. The place was of great historical importance for both the Chola kings as well as the Arcot Nawabs.
