About Ajmer

Ajmer

Ajmer is a popular pilgrimage centre for its shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Ajmer was founded in the late 7th century A.D. by Ajayraj Singh Chauhan of Chauhan dynasty. Ajmer has evolved as a manufacturing and trade centre for cotton, woollen textiles, leather, shoes, hosiery, and pharmaceutical products. Poultry is a major source of livelihood for farmers here. The place is well known for its Mayo College that was founded by the British. Ajmer is well connected through rail and road.

Nadiad is a small city forming a part of the Kheda district in Gujarat. Its neighbours are Anand (18 km) and Kheda (22 km). It is also called Natapadra or Natpur (City of Natas). The number 9 is of historical significance in Nadiad, as there are 9 routes into the city, 9 lakes and step wells around it and 9 villages near it. Mahatma Gandhi started his Satyagraha movement from Kheda, while staying at the alms house in Nadiad.
