Allahabad, the metropolitan city in state of Uttar Pradesh, also known as Prayag (place of offerings), is the seventh most populous city in Uttar Pradesh. It plays the host to the largest religious gathering in the world, The Kumbh Mela, which is celebrated every twelve years.

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation operates buses from here to other major cities. The Allahabad Central Bus Station (Civil Lines Bus station) is the major bus stand, located at the city centre. Some famous bus operators are Ganpati Travels and Jai Shiv Shankar Teerath Yatra Co.
