Amravati

A city in Maharashtra, Amravati is located the Deccan plateau. It lies mainly in Tapi basin and also along the valley of Wardha. This city is said to be the most populated area of Maharashtra. About Patur

Patur

Patur is a city located in the Akola district of Maharashtra. Popularly called as ‘Paiur Shaikh Babu’ or ‘Nanasaheb's Patur’, it is located in the south east corner of the Balapur tahsil. The first evidence of the existence of civilization in Patur can be found in the Buddhist monastery on the hill. The monasteries are believed to have been established around 1058 AD. According to historical sources, Patur was looted and burnt to ashes in 1808 by the Pendharis. Nearby towns and cities are Akola (32 km), Washim (49 km) and Shegaon (50 km).
