About Ankola

Ankola

A panchayat town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, Ankola is a small coastal town. A town, which has many beaches, Ankola is famous for its unique breed of mango, which is called ishaad and is also known for its cashews. Belekeri beach in Ankola town is a natural port rich in iron ore, which is exported to China and Europe. Ankola is surrounded by temple towns and villages on all sides. Yakshagan and Suggi, a form of tribal folk dance has its roots in this town.
