Authoor is a small panchayat town in the Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu in South India. It is sandwiched between the Thamiraparani river and the North Authoor pond. The village is very close to the beautiful estuaries adjacent to the Bay of Bengal. The picturesque Thootukudi town, also known as Tuticorin, is at a distance of 18 km from the village.

Being a village, naturally there are no places to put up for the night. One is forced to venture into Tuticorin for lodging. There are a couple of good budget hotels in the town. The village is a picturesque place with green paddy fields and banana trees, giving it a typical Tamil Nadu look. Some of the temples which are worth visiting are Somnatha which is said to be a thousand years old, Iyyappan Temple, Nalla Pillaiyar Kovil and the Sri Santhana Mari Amman.
