Ballia is a city in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The eastern part of the city lies at the meeting of the two rivers – Ganges and Ghaghara. The city is often referred to as Baghi Ballia as a remembrance of its significance in the country’s freedom struggle. The legendary Mangal Pandey was also born in the district.

Ballia as a city is not really a tourist hotspot. Thus, lodging options in the city are to a large extent limited. However, Patna in the neghbouring Bihar (131 km away) has plenty of options.
