Basavakalyan is a small town located in the Bidar district of the South Indian state of Karnataka. During ancient times, the town was referred to as Kalyan. After the classification of states on linguistic grounds in 1956, the town was rechristened to its present name after Anubhava Mantapa, who is credited with establishing spiritual democracy in the 12th Century. The historic city of Bidar is located at a distance of 79 km from the village. Maharashtra border is also just 11 km away.
