Bhadravati is an industrial town in the South Indian state of Karnataka. It is in the Shimoga district, with the district headquarters (called Shimoga) at a distance of 20 km. The town derives its name from the Bhadra river, which flows through it. Legend has it that the goddesses Halldhammadevi and Antargattamadevi still protect the town and its inhabitants from forces of evil.
