About Bhilwara

Bhilwara

Bhilwara is a city in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. The city comes under the Mewar region of the state and also happens to be the district capital. It is said that Arjuna, one of the Pandavs, passed with his gopis while heading to Dwarika during the Mahabharata-era. The major urban agglomerations of Ajmer and Udaipur are at distances of 134 and 169 km respectively.

The important festivals celebrated are Holi in March, Hanuman Jayanti and Dusshera in September-October, Diwali in November and the Urs (yearly event of commemoration at the Dargah of Ajmer).

Places of Interest
Some of the places worth visting in and around the city are Kyara ke Balaji (a spontaneously appeared image of lord Hanuman on a rock), Harni Mahadev (consisting of a Shiva Lingam under a mountain) and Badnore Fort among others . However, Ajmer as a city has plenty of options, among which are the Dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti – a great Sufi saint, the Taragarh Fort, Soniji Ki Nasiyan, Nareli Jain Temple and Lake Foysagar.

Air:
The Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur is the nearest airport at a distance of 146 km.

Rail:
The city has a pretty big railway station of its own connecting it to other towns and cities.

Bus:

Various state transport buses connect the area to different parts of the state. Private buses are pretty active in the area, too. Online bus booking facility is the most convenient way to book your tickets.
