About Bhilwara

Bhilwara

Bhilwara is a city in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. The city comes under the Mewar region of the state and also happens to be the district capital. It is said that Arjuna, one of the Pandavs, passed with his gopis while heading to Dwarika during the Mahabharata-era. The major urban agglomerations of Ajmer and Udaipur are at distances of 134 and 169 km respectively.

However, Ajmer as a city has plenty of options, among which are the Dargah of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti – a great Sufi saint, the Taragarh Fort, Soniji Ki Nasiyan, Nareli Jain Temple and Lake Foysagar.

Shamalaji

Shamalaji is a popular place for pilgrims in Gujarat. It has one of the largest temples in the Sabarkantha district which was built in the 11th century. It lies on the Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway and is so, is an easily accessible tourist spot. According to local folklore, this temple has been around since the Mahabharata. Many villages like Modhari, Sunsar, Napada, and Revdar were built around this temple.

The Shyamalvan is a theme based garden near the temple and Devni Mori is an historical Buddhist site which is only 3 km away form town.
