The name Boriguma has been derived from the words 'bori' which means a fruit and 'gumma' which means high land. The town of Boriguma has been named after a tall ‘boro koli’ tree which was once located in the centre of the town. Perched at an elevation of 559 m above sea-level, Boriguma is a Tehsil headquarter. Located in the Koraput district of Odisha, Boriguma happens to be the largest block in Odisha. There are numerous temples scattered in and around Boriguma. Nabarangapur, Jeypur , Koraput and Sunabeda are cities that are near Boriguma.
