About Burdwan

Burdwan

Burdwan, also known as Bardhaman, is a city in the East Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of the district with the same name. The city was made a district capital during the British Raj, during which the city’s name became Burdwan which continues to this day. There are several places to visit in and around Burdwan.

The nearest major airport is the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBIA) at a distance of 103 km.

Rail:
The city, being a major urban hub in the region has a big railway station of its own, which is called the Burdwan Railway Station, located at a distance of 3 km from the city centre.

Chatra

Chatra, situated in the northernmost part of Jharkhand, is considered to be the gateway of this tribal state. This town boasts of a long history beginning at the time of Ashoka’s reign. It lies on the Hazaribag plateau and is 101 km from the state capital Ranchi. It is famous for its many temples, thick forests with a variety of medicinal plants, tendu leaves and abundant wildlife which makes for a popular destination for visitors.

Rail:
The nearest railway station is at Gaya (73 km from Chatra). It is also well connected to Howrah and Varanasi railway stations.
