About Burdwan

Burdwan

Burdwan, also known as Bardhaman, is a city in the East Indian state of West Bengal. It is a part of the district with the same name. The city was made a district capital during the British Raj, during which the city’s name became Burdwan which continues to this day. There are several places to visit in and around Burdwan.

About Hunterganj

Hunterganj

Located in Jharkhand’s Chatra district, Hunterganj is a small hamlet on the banks of Lilajan River, locally referred to as the Falgu River. The village has officially been renamed as Shaligram Ramnarayanpur, in honour of freedom fighter Shaligram Singh. However, the town is still popular as Hunterganj. Kolhua Hills, at a height of 1,575 feet, is the main attraction of this village.

The Kolhua Mela, organised on top of the Kolhua Hills, is a religious fair that is held in Hunterganj twice a year during Magh Vasanth Panchami (January/February) and Ram Navami (April).

Air:
The closest airport to Hunterganj is the Gaya Airport, located 70 km away from the town. Hunterganj can also be reached through the Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi, which is around 126 km away.

Rail:
The nearest station is Gaya, about 73 km away from the town.

Bus:
Hunterganj falls on the National Highway 99 and can be easily reached through buses. The nearest stop is the Chatra Bus Stand. Ashwini Tours, Sai Anjana Travels, and Sharmila Travels are some of the top operators on this route. Booking a bus ticket in advance will save you a lot of hassle.
