About Calicut

Calicut

Calicut which is also known as  Kozhikode is the third largest city that belongs to the state of  Kerala. It is situated on the Malabar Coast. The city is also being referred as "City of Sculptures" for there are many ancient architectural sculptures seen in different parts of this city.  According to history, this city was once a powerful trading centre for Arabs, Chinese and East African traders during the 12 century. Even Vasco da Gama has landed in the shores in 1498 to carry out trade.

How to Get There

Air:
Calicut International Airport is situated at at Karipur in Malappuram. It is about 26 kms away from the city.

Rail:
Calicut has railway station of its own. There are trains to major cities like Kochi, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Chennai, Bangalore, Kannur, Mangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi. vijayawada, vishakaptnam, Hyderabad.

Bus:
There are KSRTC buses that provide regular bus services to many destinations. The city has three major bus stands. About Haveri

Haveri

A town in Karnataka, Haveri is well-known for cardamom garlands and Byadagi red chillies that are marketed all over the country. Haveri is slowly gaining popularity as a major tourist spot as it is surrounded by places that have historical temples. While the town is believed to have had about 100 Maths (sacred religious places), only a few remain today. The famous Hukkeri Math is in Haveri.

The Siddhesvara Temple, an ornate example of 12th century Western Chalukyan art and Hukkeri Math are all located about 1-3kms from the bus stand. The Ranebennur Wild Life Sanctuary is 45kms away.

Haveri has its own Railway Station.
