Dholera is a small city located in the Ahmedabad district of Gujarat. It is situated 30 km away from Dhandhuka village and is on National Highway 8. This means that Dholera is part of the Golden Quadrilateral expressway project which connects Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Vadodara. One of the six original Shri Swaminarayan temples which were built by Sahajanand Swami is located here.

Other places of interest include the beaches at Ghogha (22 km from Bhavnagar), the Alang shipyard (50 km from Bhavnagar) and the Gulf of Khambhat.
