Faridkot is a city in Faridkot district of Punjab. It is about 30 km from Ferozepur and 50 km from Moga. The city gets its name from a Sufi Saint Baba Farid whose verses appear in the Holy Scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib. Faridkot was a part of the ancient civilisation of Indus. It is one of South Asia’s largest cotton markets. The city is not very far from the Rajasthan Canal which is the major source of water for irrigation.
