About Ghazipur

Ghazipur

Ghazipur is a city in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It also happens to be the headquarters of a district by the same name. The city derives its name from the ghazi (warrior) Sayyid Masud, who is said to have defeated the local raja, and established a city here in 1330 CE. Varanasi, the holy Hindu city, lies at a distance of 79 km south-west and is the major urban agglomeration in the city.

About Faizabad

Faizabad

Faizabad is the administrative headquarters of the district by the same name in Uttar Pradesh. The city is situated on the banks of the Ghaghra River and was the old capital of the Awadh region. The earliest reference to Faizabad can be found in the mythological Hindu epic Ramayana. The city was a major city during the 1857 mutiny against British rule in India. Interestingly the town of Fyzabad, in Trinidad and Tobago, is named after Faizabad.
