Holalkere is a taluk headquarters in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka. It has been an old Jain settlement since the 9th century. It is famous for the innumerable Acra-nut plantations that are in the surrounding villages. Holalkere has a Ganesh idol from the 15th century, carved out from a single stone. It is said that a wish made with a true heart in front of this idol will always be fulfilled.
