Hoshiarpur is based in the Doaba region of Punjab. This municipal council is surrpunded by the Una district and the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Hoshiarpur is said to have been founded in the 4th century and was ruled by Maharaja Karanvir Singh in the year 1809.
