A holy temple-town located in Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka, has the famous Kalaseshwara Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located on the banks of the Bhadra River, 92kms South-west of Chickmagalur the town is chiefly a pilgrimage and tourist spot. The name Kalasa was derived from the fact that the town, which was surrounded by the Bhadra river on three sides with the Duggappana Katte hill at the South resembles a pot from a high altitude.
