Kalka is a town situated in the Panchkula district of Haryana. The western command of the Indian Army is based nearby, in the Chandimandir Cantonment. It is the origin point of the Kalka – Shimla railway line which acts as a gateway to the state of Himachal Pradesh. It has pleasant weather for most part of the year except for summers between May and June.

Kalka is well connected by rail network and is an important junction to get to the states of The Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and within Haryana itself. It is the starting point of the Kalka – Shimla Railway line as well as for trains from Delhi, Chandigarh as well as Mumbai.
