Karukachal is a very small and peaceful village in the district of Kottayam in Kerala. It is located at a distance of 138 km from Thiruvananthapuram.The name ‘Karukachal’ has been from two words i.e. ‘Karuka’ which is a variety of grass and ‘Chal’ which means ‘a small stream/river.’ Several freedom-fighters were from Karukachal.
