Kasganj is an Indian city located in the Kasganj district of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The city is known to have been established by the descendant of the Nawabs of Farrukhabad, Nawab Yaqoot Ali. Kasganj was known as Yaqoot Ganj in early 16th century. It was later changed to Kasganj due to the thick forest of Kans trees surrounding it. Kasganj is based at an elevation of 177 metres and is nestled on the foothills of Himalaya. Its lands are extremely fertile as the city occupies the area between the rivers of Yamuna and Ganga.
