Khandwa is a city and administrative headquarters of Khandwa district of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is an ancient city with deep Hindu and Jain roots. Legend has it that Lord Ram and Sita passed by Khandav Van or Khandav forest during his years in exile. The city also belongs to a region that was deeply involved in the freedom struggle.
