About Kheralu


Kheralu (or Kherālu) is a town located 50 km north of Mehsana district of Gujarat and about 100 km from Ahmedabad. Taranga Hills, which is the main place of attraction for the Jains, are located in the village of Timba in Kheralu taluka of Mehsana district. A small pond and an orchard are located close to temple for recreation. River Rupen is also known to have originated from the Taranga hills.

Places to Stay
Kheralu is a small town and hence does not have many hotels nearby. However, local home stays are available. Rooms are also available at nominal rates at Jain Dharmshalas near the Taranga Hills.

The languages spoken in Kehralu are Gujarati and Hindi.

The International Kite Festival is celebrated on 14th January, Holi in the month of March and Navratri in the month of October.

Some of the places of tourist attraction include the Ajit Nath Prasad Vihara (Jain Temple) on the Taranga Hills (25 km from Kheralu), Taranga Mataji Temple (2 km from the Jain Temple), Sharmishtha Lake, Vadnagar (14 km from Kheralu) and Vadnagar Kirti Torans (12 km from Kheralu).

The nearest airport to Kheralu is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, located about 125 km from the town. 


Kheralu is connected with Mehsana and Ahmedabad. A direct train is available to reach Taranga from Ahmedabad. A slow local train is available from Mehsana to Taranga.
