Kolaghat is a small town in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal. Situated in Midnapore district, Kolaghat sits on the banks of Rupnarayan river. It is a densely populated town and is famous for the Kolaghat Thermal Power Plant operational there. It’s only about 65kms away from the state capital, Kolkata.

The Kolaghat railway station is located about 6kms away from the town centre. It connects the town to Kolkata, Midnapore and Kharagpur.

Midnapore connects the town to larger cities like the state capital, Kolkata, Howrah as well as Asansol and Kharagpur.
