Kothacheruvu is a town in the Anantapur district of the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is also classified as a mandal. The word ‘Cheruvu’ means ‘pond’ in Telugu and it has the second largest pond in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is 12 km away from the holy town of Puttaparthi, which is the abode of the late Sathya Sai Baba. The 2001 census showed it having a population of close to 39,000, with almost equal number of males and females.
