Kottigehara is a village situated in the foothold of Charmadi Ghat in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka. It derives its name from the word ‘’Kottige’’ which means cowshed in Kannada. It receives extremely heavy rainfall due to its proximity to the Western Ghats. The population of Kottigehara is just 752 in number with 388 males and 364 females staying in 180 houses.
