About Kuduremukha


Kudremukha is a hill station town in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka. It is named after the mountain range that is located there called Kudremukh, which literally translate to ‘face of a horse’ in Kannada. It was primarily developed to run and grow the public sector iron ore mining company that the government had started, but which is now closed due to environmental reasons.

Places to Stay
There are some government run shelters and home stays in Kudremukha but these often require bookings well in advance. Chikkamagaluru, only 72 km away, has some good budget hotel options. Some of them are The Grand Luxury Hotel (Tariff – Rs. 1000), Hotel Advaith (Tariff – Rs. 1000), Ravindra Hotel (Tariff – Rs. 2000), and The Planters Court (Tariff – Rs. 500).

The official language of Kudremukha is Kannada.

Ganeshotsav-celebrated in August-September and Diwali-celebrated in November are the most popular festivals here. 

Places of Interest
Kuduremukha National Park, Kuduremukha Peak, and Kalahatti Falls are all popular tourist spots where nature can be witnessed in its unabated glory. Kalasa, believed to be the holy abode of Lord Shiva, is located on the river Bhadra’s banks.

Mangalore Airport is the nearest domestic airport to Kuduremukha. It is situated 130 km away.

Mangalore Railway Station, located 102 km away, is the nearest major station connecting Kuduremukha to major cities like Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata. 

There are several operators which run regular services to Kudremukha from main cities in the state.
