Kullu Mandi is a town in Mandi district (earlier known as Mandavya Nagar) in Himachal Pradesh. It is on the banks of the river Beas. Kullu Mandi derives its name from “mandi”, meaning market as it was a trade route from Ladakh to Punjab. It also serves as a transit route to Kullu-Manali. Kullu Mandi is known for its old stone temples with fine carving, and is popularly called the Varanasi of the Hills.
