Lohagad is a hill fort of Chatrapati Shivaji, 10 km from Lonavala in Pune district of Maharashtra. It is situated 60 km from Pune. The name Lohagad is derived from two Marathi words, ‘Loha’- meaning Iron, and ‘Gad’-meaning fort. The fort was built in 18th century. Lohagad is nestled in the Sahyadri range of mountains. The basins of two rivers, Indrayani and Pavna, are divided by Lohagad. The best time to visit Lohagad is during August and September.
