Maihar is a city in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh. It lies about 55 km from the district headquarters and is 165 km from Khajuraho. Maihar used to be the capital of the princely state of Maihar. It is famous for an ancient temple that is dedicated to goddess Sharda Devi. The temple is situated on the Trikuta hill. It is at a height of 600 feet and has a spectacular view of the city.
