About Manipal


Manipal, a suburb of Udupi, is located in Karnataka. This is a university town, offering various fields of study to global students. Dr. T.MA Pai transformed this area from a barren region to what it is today. Manipal got its name from Mannu meaning Mud and Palla which is Lake in Kannada and Tulu. Gangavathi is a town, municipality and taluka (administrative division) in the Koppal district (which was earlier the part of district Raichur) of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is situated close to Tungabhadra dam.Gangavathi is a commercial centre and a major focal point for the rice milling industry. It is also known as Rice Bowl of Karnataka.
