The third-largest city in the state of Karnataka, Mysore is located at the base of the Chamundi Hills. The city is noted for its palaces, style of painting, the sweet dish Mysore Pak, the Mysore Peta (a traditional silk turban) and the Mysore silk saree. Considered the cultural capital of the state, Mysore is also known as the called the City of Palaces.
