Nagapattinam

A coastal district of Tamil Nadu, Nagapattinam was formerly called as Cholakula Vallipattinam during the Chola period. The name Nagapattinam is derived from Nagar which refers to Sri Lnakan people settled in here while the word pattinam means town.
