Naugaon is a town that is located on the banks of the river Yamuna. It belongs to Uttarkashi which is in the state of Uttarakhand. The town has a number of historical monuments that can be visited by tourists. It was named ‘Naugaon’ because at the time there were only nine villages in that area. (‘Nau’ is nine in Hindi and ‘gaon’is town.) It is situated at a distance of 90.2 km from Uttarkashi and nearly 70 km from Dehradun.
