Nira is a town located in the state of Maharashtra. It is situated about 70 km from Pune. It derives its name from Nira River as it lies on its banks. It shares its borders with Pune, Phaltan, Satara, Baramati, Purandar and Khandala. Nira is famous for its agricultural land. It is the leading producer of jaggery and onion. So there is plenty of water surrounding the town. It lies between Nira Right and Left canals and the Nira River.
