Pabanasam is a temple 42kms to the west from Tirunelveli on the Western Ghats of Pothigai hills. The temple is located on the banks of Tampirabarani river which is believed to be a sacred spot. It is believed that Lord Siva and Parvathi appeared here before Great Sage Agasthiya at the spot of Agasthiyar falls (very near to this temple). Taking a holy bath in the river in front of the temple is believed to be sacred.
