A major seaport town in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, Paradip, also spelt Paradeep, is one of the largest ports on east coast. An emerging industrial hub the town has several steel plants, alumina refineries, thermal power plants, and a petrochemical complex that is under development. The town is recognised as one of the best regions for major petroleum, chemicals and petrochemical investment.
