Located approximately 22 km north of the Kannur town, Payangadi is a small township in Kerala. Surrounded by the Madayi Hills on one side and Pazhayangadi River on the other, it has a strong historical lineage associated with it. In fact, it was the capital of the ancient Mooshika Dynasty. The word Payangadi, literally translates an ‘old market’. It was also one of the first places in India where Islam was introduced by Malik Dinar.
