Porumamilla is an agriculture-based town in the YSR district of Andhra Pradesh. The place gets its name from the Mahabharata era when a massive war took place between Bheema and Bhakasura. The word ‘war’ in Telugu is ‘poru’. Hence the name Porumamilla was coined. Porumamilla is famous for its sona masoori rice called ‘sanna biyyam’ in the local language.
