Savanur

A former princely state of British India, Savanur is situated in Karnataka’s Haveri district. This town boasts of three 5,000-year-old baobab trees that were believed to have been planted by lord Shiva, who brought them from Africa. Now, there is a fencing to protect the trees from encroachers. Its district headquarters is about 31 km from the town, while its capital city Bangalore is 365 km away.

Savanur has its own railway station, located 8 km away from the town. However, the major rail head connecting this village is the Hubli railway station, which is 60 km away.
