Srirangapatna is a town located about 14 km from Mysore. It is situated in Mandya district in the state of Karnataka, India. Srirangapatna was the capital of Mysore under the dynasty of Tippu Sultan. It has a great religious, historical and cultural importance. It is famous for its ancient temple of Sri Ranganathaswamy, a deity of Lord Vishnu. The entire town is surrounded by the River Kaveri and makes Srirangapatna an island.
