Sultanpur is a city in Uttar Pradesh situated on the banks of River Gomti. Its origins is believed to go back to Lord Ram’s era when his son Kusa founded the city, then known as Kusapura. Later it came to be known as Sultanpur meaning ‘city of beautiful vines’. It has mainly an agricultural economy, but also has a good industrial presence in the form of computer and hardware manufacturing, automobile industry and other small-scale industrial units.

Vijethua Hanuman Temple and the Tuesday fair here are also popular.
