Located on the southern end of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvengadam, is a town on the southern bank of the Vaippar river. The nearest major urban hubs are Tirunelveli and Tuticorin at distances of 70 km south and 92 km south-east respectively. The Ranni Forest Division acroos the border in Kerala is also close-by at a distance of 37 km west approximately.

With lodging facilities almost next to nil in the area, one is forced to venture into Tirunelveli in order to put up for the night. There are a couple of good budget hotels in the city.
