Tungabhadra Dam was constructed by Dr. Thirumalai Iyengar. It is built across River Tungabhadra, a tributary of River Krishna. The dam is located 5 km away from Hospet in the Bellary district of Karnataka. The dam was a joint project between the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states and is used for power generation and irrigation for over 2 million acres of agricultural land.
