Tungabhadra Dam

Tungabhadra Dam was constructed by Dr. Thirumalai Iyengar. It is built across River Tungabhadra, a tributary of River Krishna. The dam is located 5 km away from Hospet in the Bellary district of Karnataka. The dam was a joint project between the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states and is used for power generation and irrigation for over 2 million acres of agricultural land.

There are many hotels and resorts near the Tungabhadra Dam. Some of the best budget hotels are Siddharth Residency, Hospet (Tariff – Rs. 800) and Malligi Hotel, Hospet (Tariff – Rs. 650).

Kannada and Telugu are the languages spoken by the locals.

Hampi Festival is a major festival celebrated in Hospet in the month of November every year.
