Umarga is a town located in the Osmanabad District of Maharashtra, India. The name ‘Umarga’ is said to have been derived from Goddess Tulja who was also known as Uma. The town is known as a historic place due to the Mukti Sangram for peasants which took place in the year 1948. Umarga is nestled along the National Highway 9 which connects Pune city to Hyderabad.
