Uppunda

Uppunda, a coastal village in Karnataka’s Udupi district, has some of the most beautiful and unexplored beaches. It also houses several ancient temples worth visiting. Earlier, this place was a part of the Madras state. This place is a perfect weekend getaway, as it is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Language
Kannada is the official language of Uppunda. However, Tulu, Konkani and English are also spoken in the area.

Events
Kodi Habba, the annual temple festival held in November-December at the Durgaparameshwari Temple, is a major event in the village.

Durgaparameshwari Temple in Uppunda is one of the largest temples in South India. It is a kilometer away from the main village centre. It also has several virgin beaches worth exploring. Some of the attractions nearby include Kundapur (27 km) and Kollur (29 km).
